We have currently reached our maximum quota with NHS dental patients and will accept new patients whenever spaces become available. We accept all new dental patients for private dental care.

Whether you’re looking for a dental check-up, need restorative work like a filling or a crown or you’re looking for cosmetic dentistry like teeth whitening or dental bonding, we can help.

We welcome patients from Watford and throughout Hertfordshire including Bushey, Chandler’s Cross, Moor Park and Rickmansworth. What happens at your first dental appointment in Watford?

We usually meet new dental patients when they arrive for their first dental check-up with us.

At this stage, we will take some information from you which allows us to find out more about your general health and your oral health.

When you meet your dentist for the first time they will conduct a thorough check of your mouth, inspecting your teeth, bite and gums. We will also talk through any problems or concerns that you might have with your teeth.

We may take x-rays at this time of your teeth and gums, and this gives us a better understanding about your oral health.

If there’s any further treatment that your dentist recommends, or any treatment that you are interested in, you can discuss this during your first meeting too.

Based on what your dentist has recommended, you can then book in for any other treatment, or arrange your next dental check-up, which will usually be in 6 or 12-months’ time.

How long do dental check-ups take?

On average, a dental check-up should take about 20 minutes. Your first dental check-up may take a little longer as we go through some of your oral and general health history. Some dental check-ups may take longer if an issue or concern is raised.

How do NHS dental services and private dental services differ?

NHS dental services will offer a reduced rate for those dental services which are necessary to the health of your teeth. This includes services such as dental check-ups, fillings, crowns or dentures. NHS dental services will not cover any cosmetic dentistry which improves the appearance of your teeth like teeth whitening, veneers or bonding. You will only be able to receive cosmetic dentistry privately.

What can I do to protect my teeth against plaque between dental check-up appointments?

You can maintain a good oral hygiene by brushing your teeth for two minutes twice a day using a toothpaste that contains fluoride. You should floss your teeth once a day to make sure there is no plaque forming between your teeth.

You should not smoke as this is the worst factor for developing gum disease – plus it stains your teeth and makes your breath smell.

Avoid consuming too much sugar especially with fizzy drinks as this can cause cavities in your teeth.

I went to Watford Dental Practice for a dental hygienization done by hygienist Denisa and her assistant Ana Maria, who was very nice and kind from the moment we entered the building!

My family and I have been using this dentist for a number of years now.

Dr Hirani is knowledgable friendly and polite. She often recommends the course of treatment that is best for the patient versus other dentists I have visited who seem to want to just take money for extra treatments!

The reception staff are also pleasant and helpful to me, my wife and my children. This is often against a backdrop of when the a dental practice is busy, or when dealing with some challenging clients.

Would recommend this as a they do NHS treatment and have good dental hygienists.

There is free parking on the surrounding streets after 10am and before 5pm.

My family and I have been seeing Dr Shah for about 15 years. When I first began seeing him my teeth was not in the greatest condition and the work he has done since to make them neater and comfortable via the NHS is phenomenal. He always takes time to listen to your issues and deals with problems efficiently. He's very gentle and has been excellent with my daughter who's a little nervous. Overall the best dentist I've ever had and highly recommended. The practise aa a whole is friendly, clean and the staff are always polite and helpful.
