We begin treatment by taking impressions of your teeth which are used to create your custom-made dental trays. These soft, plastic trays fit over the top of your teeth.

Once ready, we’ll invite you back to Watford Dental Practice where we will give you the Boutique teeth whitening gel and your bespoke dental trays. We’ll show you how to wear your whitening trays and how to remove them.

You then fill the trays with teeth whitening gel and wear your dental trays every night whilst you sleep. You will notice a distinct difference with your teeth after about five or seven days.

Teeth whitening is completely safe when it is administered and overseen by a professional dentist. It will not harm your teeth, the enamel on your teeth or your gums. The main side-effect with teeth whitening is sensitivity. Whilst Boutique teeth whitening is mild enough for all patients including those with sensitive teeth to use, some patients do report some sensitivity issues. This is usually mild and not long-lasting. If this happens, please talk to your dentist.

How long does teeth whitening last?

Teeth whitening is not a permanent treatment, and your teeth will gradually begin to fade in colour. How often you top up your teeth whitening will depend upon your lifestyle. If you smoke, regularly consume red wine, coffee, tea or curries you’ll need to top up within three to four months. Otherwise, you may want to top up your teeth whitening after six months to a year.

Is teeth whitening suitable for everyone?

Teeth whitening is suitable for adults over the age of 18. We do not advise having your teeth whitened if you’re pregnant or breastfeeding. If you have veneers, crowns, dental bonding or any other restoration, you should be aware that teeth whitening will not work on these appliances. If you’re considering having a combination of treatments, we would always suggest having your teeth whitened first and then for example, the bonding or veneers to match the new shade.

This practice and the staff were a complete life saver! I was suffering from impacted wisdom tooth pain, and unable to get an appointment at my usual dentist any sooner than 5 days time. I was referred here by NHS 111, and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. The receptionist was lovely, very empathetic and was able to get me an emergency appointment two hours later. My appointment was with Mr. Aftab Hussain, and he was superb! Diagnosed the issue speedily, provided me with the treatment, discussed preventative measures and how the issue would be treated if it occured again, and made me laugh. Excellent all around!
